Oiler to Operator

Start on the crew, learn the boom, get on your own truck.

Houston operator and oiler hires: which yard do they report to? Answer

The path

You start as an oiler on a boom pump crew: setup, line, hose, cleanout, and keeping the unit right. You learn the boom on real pours from an operator who has done it for years. When you are ready, you test out and get your own unit.

The CDL and CDL help

A Class B CDL is required to run the truck. If you have one, good. If you do not yet, say so when you apply and it is covered on the first call. If you do not, we talk about how to get you there and what the commitment is. An oiler with no CDL: does Star pay for the license? Is there a time commitment? Answer

What you need

  • A valid driver's license and a record that can carry a CDL.
  • The ability to pass a DOT physical.
  • Early mornings and the will to learn a dangerous machine the right way.

Pay and benefits

Pay is discussed on the first call. What hourly pay can we post for Oiler to Operator? Answer
