You start as an oiler on a boom pump crew: setup, line, hose, cleanout, and keeping the unit right. You learn the boom on real pours from an operator who has done it for years. When you are ready, you test out and get your own unit.
The CDL and CDL help
A Class B CDL is required to run the truck. If you have one, good. If you do not yet, say so when you apply and it is covered on the first call. What you need
- A valid driver's license and a record that can carry a CDL.
- The ability to pass a DOT physical.
- Early mornings and the will to learn a dangerous machine the right way.
