Safety

A boom pump is a dangerous machine. We treat it that way.

Safety is the first letter in our name. S.T.A.R. stands for Safety, Teamwork, Attitude and Reliability. Here is what that means before every pour, and what we hand a contractor who is setting us up.

The record

These are the numbers S.T.A.R. hands a plant or a general contractor before the first pour, from the company introduction dated September 2025. A full time HSE Director who is a Certified Safety Professional writes the program and runs the training, and several Construction Site Safety Technicians are on staff. No workers' compensation claim in more than ten years. A total recordable incident rate of 0.00 every year from 2014 through 2024. The 2025 NCCI experience modification rate is 0.64. When you have them, what are the full year 2025 safety numbers? Answer

YearTRIRDARTLWCREMR
20240.000.000.000.66
20230.000.000.000.65
20220.000.000.000.66
20210.000.000.000.65

TRIR is the total recordable incident rate, DART is days away, restricted or transferred, LWCR is the lost workday case rate, all per 200,000 hours worked. EMR is the workers' compensation experience modification rate: 1.00 is average for the trade, lower is better.

Before the pour

  • Site walk. The operator looks at ground, outrigger room, overhead lines and the truck route before the outriggers go down.
  • Outrigger pads and cribbing. Soft ground gets what it needs. A boom pump on bad ground is the accident everyone in this trade has heard about.
  • Line and boom checks. Pipeline wall thickness and boom inspection on a schedule. How should we describe how Star inspects booms and pipe? Answer
  • Hose whipping and the end of the line. The hose man is trained and nobody stands where the hose can reach when air is in the line.

Certifications and programs

This section lists only what S.T.A.R. holds today, confirmed by the owner. Candidates, each gated until confirmed: ACPA certified operators, OSHA 10 for operators and OSHA 30 for supervisors, background checks and drug testing, ISNetworld or Avetta registration, insurance limits. Which of these is true for Star today? Answer

Vendor setup for contractors

Ask dispatch at (281) 357-1555 and we send: the W-9, the certificate of insurance naming your project, and whatever your site's vendor packet requires. Plant and refinery sites with badging and site specific orientation are normal for us.
